Plaster damage is most common problem in most of the houses. The basic reason for this problem is water damage. The moisture arises in walls of the house and damages it. Not only walls but also ceiling and other place are also affected by water damage. As the wall starts taking moisture the plaster start to bubble and discoloration. The paint may also starts flakes off and the mould could be happened on the gyprock. All the beautiful look of your house may goes in vain as the discolor walls and ceiling gives a worst ghost house like look. This is not completed yet by the water damage. If you are not taking it seriously then after some time it could be dangerous for your house as it could cause any major issue like house damage etc. Now the question arises that how we can remove this problem? This article will gives you the answer of this question. It gives you information about how to tackle with water damage. Generally water comes through loose roof tiles and cracks in the roofing material. One more reason for ceiling cavity is blocked gutters. These are the places from where the water damage starts. So the first step is to block the places from where water is leaking. If still the water is taking its place through the wall then there is no chance of repairing as after repairing it will damage again. So first of all you need to prevent the entry points of the moisture. Just block them by some solid material. In the second step you need a metal scraper to scrap off the flaking paint and other dust. You have to scrape cleanly to make sure that there should no harsh cracks in the paint. Now apply a coat of primer to the damaged area. After the primer is dry, use the scraper again to clean the waste. Make the surface as smooth as there should not be any flows at the area. Then apply the joint compound coat with the help of metal scraper across the area. After the joint compound is dry, use a 120 grit sand paper and sand the area with that. You have to sand a wider area as this will ensure you that there are no surrounding marks once the job is completed. Wipe of the remaining dust from the place. Repeat the process of joint compound application, sanding and dusting for one more time. This will make the repair job more strong and durable which can fight with extreme weather. Now apply the primer and sealer with the help of paint brush over the area. This will seal that area permanently. After the primer is become dry you can go for final coat of paint matching with the room. This is the best method for the professional and durable finish. If you apply it correctly then it is impossible to find out that area which was previously damaged. The main part is to make that area smooth as nothing. If you have cleared this phase then no one can find out the water damaged area.
