It has been compared to the David Beckham and Cristiano Ronaldo of the Great Britain Hockey team- He is a chock full of talent and people know it. He is the golden boy of the England field hockey team and I am not talking about just his beautiful golden locks. And this is the golden era for the Queen’s hockey team. Their team hasn’t seen results like this since 1988- the time an age of Sean Kerly. Both the men and women England Hockey team are doing exceptionally well. They have been placed at the fourth ranking which is a remarkable achievement, given the circumstances. On top of this, the England hockey team won the ‘Over 70s World Championship and this from a country where hockey is not fully accepted in a professional sense. So what other time proves more befitting to soak up the praise and marinate in the team’s victory than present for the stalwart field hockey player- Ashley Jackson There is a reason why he is known as the Becks of the hockey team. There is more to Ashley Jackson profile than his good looks and great hair- which is one of the points of comparison between him and Beckham. There is the fact that he is a midfielder and also his successive run at taking [penalty shots adds to his semblance to all things Beckham. Then there is the whole Cristiano Ronaldo angle which stems from his exuberant nature and antics on field. Also the fact that his initials and number is coined to form AJ7 which, one has to admit is eerily similar to CR7, makes the comparison even more pronounced. It is not like Jackson is suffering from all this, if anything he is reeling from all the remarks about being kindred souls with football greats. Mind you, he can do very well on his own. As a matter of fact, he proved that he was quite unique when he became the first English player to receive the FIH Young Player of the year award in 2009, barely two years after his debut. He also helped his team to the European Indoor title in 2010. All the hockey fans from Britain are excitingly waiting to know about the results of the match. His career graph seems to be on steady rise astronomic success. It is too bad that hockey is not professional in England, because with Jackson in their team, they can surely hope to achieve worldwide success.
