Coupons are always deemed as a most effective promo method to attract new customers or retain old customers. However, people begin suspecting the application in non-essentials business. In traditional domain, food, towel paper, clothes and shoes, etc. are all necessary in our daily life. If promo coupons are given, people will absolutely be drawn and come back at full price again. When it comes to service industry, it is full of indeterminacy.

Take beauty parlour for example, we can make an estimation for the cost and profit simply. The prime cost includes the material cost, labor cost and overheads. Overheads consist of rents, insurance, marketing expenses, taxes and other incidental expenses. The result of the sales price minus prime cost is net income, that’s what you actually earn. Generally speaking, the sale price is fixed according to trade standard, set as 40% of prime cost. If you discount 20%-30%, you can only get 10% per time. Business operator intends to sacrifice temporary, partial benefits in order to gain fundamental interests.

In fact, imagination is good, the reality is cruel. Those that only come to your beauty parlour because of promo codes are small probability to come back once again, although you provide the outstanding service. Even they like your offered service; they are not likely to come again. Because it is not requisite, they do not have enough money and time to consume at a full price. In a word, coupons are not a good way for non-essentials bossiness.

Don’t be afraid of no method to make more money in non-essentials business. You can push out upgrades and add-ons, which neither increase time to the service, nor increase cost. Such as free skin or hair consultation with first service, free lip or eye treatment with facial, free brow wax with your high-end facial, free shoulder massage with new customer. The free noun always has the magic to attract new customers and retain old customers. In addition, you store the customer consume records statistically, and then choose the best ways to improve the outstanding achievement.

Maybe coupons are not a good way for non-essentials business, customer and retailers should have a try because it is really a money-saving way for online shoppers in today’s stressful life. Non-essentials merchants can certainly take advantages of coupons by applying sales promotion methods, such as buy one get one free, free shipping or a doorstep delivery service and so on.
