Many of us find themselves flying into Bangkok for the first time and they're wondering what it is like. Bangkok receives million's travelers each year and is amongst the most busy flight destinations in The East with only Beijing, Tokyo and HK having more world flights into it than Bangkok in 2009. Bangkok received over 40,000,000 visitors in 2009 in their new Suvarnabhumi aeroport, which opened for business in 2006, 2007, taking over from the Don Muang world airport, which is still in operation as a regional internal Thailand airport, with all of the world flights coming into the new airport Suvarnabhumi. Customs at the Bangkok airport is real busy. One of the things you can do is to make sure you have your immigration form filled out absolutely that they give you on the flight into Bangkok. When you're in the immigration line and you get up to the Thai immigration officer, be sure to stand behind the line till they motion you forward, and you have your passport and immigration form prepared, and you stand on the yellow footprints on the floor and take a look at the camera when they call you forward. You want remove any hat or sunglasses for the picture. After they stamp you into Thailand, you'll go on to the bag claim, if you can remember the carousel great, but many times the flight crew does not know which carousel it'll be. No problem, as shortly after you get out of the immigration, before the baggage carousels, there are massive screens that may have your flight number and which conveyor line your baggage will come out on. A brilliant idea is if you have plenty of gear to get a baggage cart immediately which are supplied free, typically you could have a ten min wait at most until your bags come out. Customs is generally pro forma, if you haven't anything to declare they just wave you through. Occasionally they could have you put your bags on an x-ray belt but for most foreign travelers you may pass right through. Now you'll move into the part of the airport that's open to the general public, here's where, if somebody is waiting for you they are going to be. Some Bangkok 5 star hotels & resorts will pick you up at the airport and here's where they are going to stand with the signs with your name on it. Access to and from the airport for most traveler is by metered taxi, which can often be found on the lowest level. The median cost with the road tolls works out to less than three hundred baht for most locations within the town correct. Late you are able to save a little money by not taking the interstate highway but for most times of the day it basically is less expensive to pay the tolls, rather that get encircled in Bangkok's extremely famous traffic nightmares, which you can stuck in as late as 10PM more frequently than not. If you're new to Bangkok don't take a risk and pay the tolls. One of the things which you totally need to recollect is definitely insist firmly on the meter being turned on before the taxi begins to move; an especially bad sign is a driver that won't turn the meter on when you're at the taxi stand on the lowest level of the airport. A few of the people also take limos which are promoted within the terminal by touts, legal and illegal, that offer a way more costly ride into the town. Buses are also available into the town they're less expensive but most individuals find the metered taxis to be a good worth as they take you right to your destination hotel or apartment and for most first time visitors to Bangkok this would be commended.
