The duties performed by a vet tech are as diverse as their animal patients. The daily job tasks and diverse career opportunities contribute toward the satisfaction that most vet techs receive from their careers. Even before entering the field of veterinary technology, many vet tech students find their vet tech education itself to be interesting and rewarding. As many accredited veterinary technology programs include intensive hands-on training working with real animals either in an on-site facility or through off-site internship experiences. These real-world experiences provide valuable and rewarding experiences for vet tech students. Additionally, working closely with animal patients and their human owners is considered to be a very gratifying aspect of the veterinary technology field. Vet techs spend a great deal of time with animals and their owners providing advice and education on the proper care of their pet. Educating families and serving as a resource for additional information is a gratifying part of being a veterinary technician.
