Who does not love sinking in to his or her preferred comfortable and cozy armchairs to enjoy their favorite program on the television? This is especially enjoyable if the armchairs have been used for years, and there is a nice little area where your body fits perfectly and comfortably. There is one major issue with leather armchairs that have reached this point of comfort. They typically are dull and not really looking that great anymore, despite how unbelievably comfortable they might still be. Do not fret! There is still something you can do about it. Your favorite armchairs can be aesthetically saved and revitalized! There are a number of steps that you should take to bring your armchairs back to life. To start you will need clothes, containers of warm water, soap, leather polish, and a boar brush to really get the job done. You will want to prep the process by wiping down the entire chair with a cloth soaked in warm water. This will remove any dust or residue that has settled on the surface. Any dirt on the surface will compromise the effectiveness of the leather polish soaking in to the leather of the armchairs. Next you will need to further remove the residue that is really on there with a cloth soaked in warm water and lathered with soap. Wipe over the entire chair with the second cloth. Make sure to pay special attention to the spots on the armchairs that are particularly stubborn. Wipe the armchairs clean again with a clean warm water cloth, and get ready for the polishing process. Leave them alone until they have completely air-dried. With a new clean and dry cloth, apply the leather polish to the entire surface of the armchairs. Once the entire surfaces are coated with leather polish then you will begin to work it in with the boar brush. You will not be pushing with force on the surface, if you press with force, or too hard, you risk the chance of damaging your leather armchairs further. Since we are in the process of repairing your leather armchairs, I would advise against compromising the surface any further; they are in a vulnerable state as is. Pay attention that you are lightly brushing the surface, barely even making contact with the surface, to get the polish in the leather. It does not take much, and if you do it right, you can make this piece a main piece of beauty in your front room. Do not throw away your leather armchairs just because they are starting to look dull and worn in, especially if they are still really comfortable. Take the time to work through the steps to revitalize your favorite armchairs with these simple steps. It is much more economically sound to polish your leather armchairs than purchasing new ones. All you need is an hour and all of the items I detailed earlier and you can have yourself a brand new (looking) armchair. Leather armchairs can become dull over time but there is a way to revitalize them. This article by Dunelm looks at the process of polishing your leather armchairs.
