One of the most difficult steps in writing a compelling sales copy is writing the first 100 words. Legendary copywriters such John Carlton and the late Gary Halbert often confess they spend days, sometimes even weeks, writing the headline and the 100 words. Why do you think they do that? Because other than the headline, the 100 words would determine whether or not your copy gets read. Yet most copywriters starts with something weak, such as "Hi. I'm John." Why? Because they have no idea how else to do it. It's a little problem we writers call "the writer's block". Well, I'm here to solve that. Whenever I staring at a blank page wondering what to write, I like to these 5 "templates" to get get my brain juice flowing. Ask a problem-oriented question. Problems always attracts attention and questions always attracts reader's involvement. By combining the two you practically guarantee your first 100 gets read. My favorite example: Have you ever wondered why 95% of all businesses fail in their first 5 years DESPITE large sums of capital? Tell a story. Stories are your best weapon to fly under the B.S. detector of your readers. In my years of doing seminars, I've always noticed how the audience would put down their pen and lie back on their chairs whenever I say, "Let me tell you a story." It seems they've let down their guard and completely absorb what they hear without any filter. My favorite example: Let me tell a little story about how I go from being a janitor to making a more than a million dollars online. Just a little five years ago... Cite a shocking statistics. This one is a little hard to implement, depending on the industry you're in. The main reason shocking statistics work is not because they grab attention. It's because they educate - and thus positions you as an authority. My favorite example: Did you know that a mere 2% of all cancer patients recover from the disease through chemotherapy while alternative treatments have yielded as much as 50% success rate? Get the reader to imagine how does it feel if he buys your product. By making him picture himself using your product, you've just done half the job in persuading to click the buy button. My favorite example: Imagine driving down the street in this brand new Aston Martin and turning heads while other guys resort to loud music... Quote famous people. Quotes from famous people are often unquestioned so if it helps you make your point, use them. Here's an example: Eben Pagan once said the very lifeblood of any business is sales. Who better to learn that from than yours truly? dissertation help
