Caffeine present in coffee ends up in your breast milk and as your baby is not able to excrete it quickly and may lead to irritation and sleeplessness. If you are fond of it and can’t cut this habit, try to minimize its quantity and can drink it after just feeding because after that caffeine is only in your blood. • Citrus food, chocolates, strawberries, cabbage, onion, pineapple, chili pepper and cinnamon are some gas producing food, avoid it. • Harmful foods like alcohol and caffeine are also not safe for your kid’s health because alcohol consumption changes the quality, taste and smell of the milk, and that’s why sometimes child start avoiding it. • Some peoples have habit of eating spicy food and even breastfeeding which is not good for the health of child as it causes irritation, itchiness and stirring cry for hours. • Avoid garlic containing food as it may infect your milk. In some countries like Italy, doctor advised to avoid garlic for new moms as some children are not comfortable with the feeding garlic in milk whereas in India, people believe that garlic containing milk is good for children as it gives him/ her an idea of adults taste. • Some children has allergy with wheat and may cause persistent crying obviously due to pain in stomach. You can check it by avoiding wheat for 2- 3 weeks and if your baby’s improve, then you need to avoid it while breastfeeding. • Cow’s milk is hard to digest for small children and other dairy products like cheese, yogurt and cream and causing the symptoms of vomiting and could not sleep well. • Today egg lurks are present in all sorts of food from bread to snacks and ice cream and is difficult to determine. Some children have allergy with eggs containing food products and may cause rashes and other symptoms as well. • Instead fish is good for health and even not cause fussiness, you need to avoid it because of the mercury present in it as it may flow to the breast milk and is not good for baby’s health. Avoid swordfish, tilefish and shark while breastfeeding.
