Dating rules can differ slightly depending on the society that you are in. One of the major differences that affects dating scenario is the country's culture. The West is more open and liberal in terms of dating, whereas Asian countries generally exhibit a more conservative attitude towards dating rules. If you are dating somebody in Singapore, you may need to play it more slowly as compared to dating somebody in the West.
Personal space is one of the most important factors that differentiate the dating scenario in Singapore. Personal space refers to the amount of physical space between you and your date. Being too close for comfort on your first date can create negative vibes. Physical contact or intimacy in public even before the first date is acceptable in the West. However, women in Singapore respect their personal space in public a lot more than Westerners do. Touching your date intimately in public will not work in your favor. It is important that you understand the amount of physical proximity accepted from total strangers in Singapore. An arm's length is good amount of personal space when you first meet them.
Let your date know you a little better before you make an effort to come slightly into her personal space. It is essential that you slowly make an effort to enter her personal place so that she gets comfortable with you. She should start recognizing you as a friend or a lover, otherwise your date will remain purely platonic. If you notice that your date is exhibiting signs of discomfort the moment you enter her personal space, take your cue and step back. Establishing constant physical contact with your date while in public is acceptable in the West, but it may not be welcome in Singapore.
You can slowly enter the personal space of your date by doing things like holding her hand while giving her compliments. Refrain from touching her hair, face, neck or other intimate parts in public. If you want to gain success in dating in Singapore then it is best that you first make her comfortable with your conversation. Do not try to take things too quickly to a physically intimate level. You might also come across as a man who is unable to control himself, and your date might just take an about turn. Last but not the least, be confident and genuine for a dazzling date.
