This is a great beach town, full of things to do and see. Lots of wonderful little stores along the main drag to keep you busy eating & shopping. The beach is wide, clean and has soft and hard sand for your tanning pleasure. Terry & I took the family here on vacation this year and had a wonderful time exploring the area. So come have a look and see the many thing to do here. At night this town really comes alive, shopping, entertainers in Time Square, people watching, icecream and much more! Set on a 105-acre (0.42 km2) site, it has a museum, three nature trails, a planetarium, butterfly and bird aviaries, a gift shop and meeting and picnic areas. • City of Palms Park, home of the Boston Red Sox spring training program, close to downtown Fort Myers. It is also home to the Gulf Coast League Red Sox. • Edison and Ford Winter Estates • Edison Mall • Gulf Coast Town Center • Historic Downtown, waterfront entertainment district • Historic Downtown Fort Myers Art Walk • Murphy-Burroughs House If you take a ride over to Sanibel to go swimming, check out Lighthouse Beach to the left on Periwinkle Way. The water is calm, good views of the lighthouse, and plenty of birds that are not affraid of people, I got within a few feet of these beautiful birds. So make sure you bring your camera here with lots of batteries and film! There is plenty of other woldlife to see while you are swimming too. This was a rather interesting entertainer, he covered himself in a copper colored suit, painted his skin the same color and sat on a moped until someone came by to look closer at him and then he would move, startle the person, kinda funny really. But you would pay him a tip if you liked his form of entertainment or if you took a photo which is only fair. Support the local artist. This is a great place, wonderful wide beaches, not really any wave and the water is shallow for quite a distance, great for skim boarding and little kids! We would suggest water shoes due to the shells every where, don't want the little ones feet to get hurt. Plenty to do for the older kids from teens to adults if they get bored only a few feet away like shopping, bar food and fishing. Get there early because parking fills up quick close to the beach.
