For many men, electric razors have replaced the traditional method of shaving. At the same time, there are many men who still enjoy a great shave and invest in products such as those offered by The Art of Shaving. If you prefer the closeness of a regular shave but don’t always get it, read through the following ten shaving tips for men to improve your technique. - Start by making sure your beard, however slight it might be, is completely wet. This will help reduce the amount of razor burn that you get. A shower is an excellent way to make sure your entire beard is wet.
- Use a good brand for your shaving cream. Not all shaving creams are created equal, and you will be surprised at the difference you get by investing just a few more pennies in a good product.
- Buy a high-quality shaving brush. There is a reason that barbers use a shaving brush. Not only does it get your face wet, but it helps the whiskers stand up so they are easier to cut off with your razor. Many men prefer a brush made out of beaver fur.
- Use a circular motion when applying the shaving cream.
- Always use sharp blades and a good razor. The better the quality of razor, the better the shave will be. However, if you have dull blades, it doesn’t matter what quality of razor you use; the shave will suffer.
- Shave in the right direction—with the grain of your beard.
- Rinse the blade after you are done to get all excess cream and whiskers off the razor.
- Use cool water to rinse excess cream off your face.
- Protect your skin by patting it dry instead of rubbing it dry.
- Apply a good lotion or aftershave product such as those you can buy from The Art of Shaving.
