A memory foam bed is soft comfortable and firm all in one. The use of the word "memory" means that when pressure is applied to the foam it remains like that for some time. Memory foam was first utilized as a cushion for use in the US Space Program in the 1970's. It did not last for long used as this purpose and was soon forgotten. It was reinvented in the 1980's by a company in Sweden as a mattress. Memory foam is today used as more than just a mattress, it is used in computer cases, car seats, wheel chair cushions and pillows, it is basically used for anything that needs to be cushioned. Every consumer needs to be aware that if you do not use a good mattress cover, dust, dirt, dander and hair can seep its way into it due to the porous nature of the mattress. It is also UV ray sensitive. To preserve a memory foam mattress it should be kept inside a good mattress cover.
