In order to see the whiteness of snow and dormant volcanoes of the Andes, hot jungles of the Amazon, or simply ride a wave in the Pacific Coast and fishing in the Galapagos Islands you will have to come to Ecuador. Ecuador attracts travelers from all over the globe, especially those who like to sail, fish, try eco-tourism, outdoor activities (from trekking and climbing to rafting and paragliding), rich excursion program and do everything that does not fall under the definition of a trivial pastime. Ecuador is a land of diversity it is only here that you can come down with a fast ski slopes directly into the ocean, not even surprising the beach bartenders unusual ski gear. Ecuador is one of the most interesting places in South America. Throughout the world there is no country that combines a variety of climate zones on such a small territory. The state is located on the west coast of South America. It has borders with Colombia, on the east and south with Peru. Ecuador in Spanish means "equator", hence the name was given to the country because it lies on either side of this conventional line. The structure also includes Ecuador's Galapagos Islands, located in the Pacific Ocean, a thousand kilometers from the coast (Spanish for "Galapago" - ivory, tortoise). The country is divided into four geographic regions: Costa is the coastal plain - it takes a little more than a quarter of the territory. It stretches long between the Andes mountain range and the Pacific Ocean. This area affects the diversity of nature: rain forests, vast savannahs and sandy plains. The so-called Ecuador French Riviera resorts are the main beaches. Sierra is the central foothills - a plateau surrounded by mountains. Mountainous area is interesting by the great variety of landscapes. It remained the only one of its kind ecosystem highlands of the Andes. And of course volcanoes. The most famous volcano in Ecuador is Pichincha (4789 m), Ilinisa (5212 m) and colossal Chimborazo (6262 m) - the highest point of Ecuador. Here is the highest active volcano in the world - Cotopaxi (5897 m). Oriente, or eastern jungle is occupying about half of the country. Amazon is the territory of luxuriant vegetation. There are numerous national parks, nature reserves and protected areas. The Galapagos Islands is a mix of 6 large and 9 small islands of volcanic origin. It hosts one of the most important national parks of the world. The Galapagos Islands are famous for its white sandy coasts, forests of cactus, giant turtles and many species of birds - including some of those which are found only here.
