Tips to Reduce Your Toyota Premio's Fuel Consumption

Automotive,Business
This may surprise you, but with proper driving, you can reduce your weekly Toyota Premio fuel consumption by as much as 33 percent. Saving on fuel expenses also means you reduce energy use and the amount of carbon dioxide you emit into the atmosphere, thus decreasing pollution. Increasing your car’s fuel efficiency is a way of conserving resources, so if you want to do your part in saving the planet, follow these easy eco-driving tips.

• Leave unnecessary stuff behind. Extra weight in the boot would make the engine work harder to pull the car along, which means you’ll use up more fuel.

• Lose the racks. Roof-racks add wind resistance and therefore increase the use of fuel. If you don’t need that roof rack, take it off to make the car more aerodynamic.

• Check your gas cap. Make sure that the gas cap on your tank is screwed tightly in place. Gas evaporates, and you may not know it but you could be losing gas if you don’t have the cap on tight.

• Don’t idle more than you have to. Idling wastes fuel so you should get going as soon as you start the engine.

• Make it smooth. Speed up and slow down gently, keep your eyes on the road. Apply steady and constant pressure on the accelerator without flowing it. As soon as you see a red—or yellow—light, take your foot off the gas to ease the car into braking.

• Plan your route. Going around in circles looking for that restaurant isn’t good for your hunger and your Toyota Premio fuel consumption. Check the maps before you leave and plot your route, including shortcuts just in case there’s a traffic jam ahead.

• Roll up on the highway. Keeping the windows closed on the highway reduces drag and wind resistance, resulting in better fuel economy. If your driving speed is below 35 miles per hour, you can roll down your windows to minimize the use of air conditioning.

• Errands? Do them all in one go. As much as possible, combine short trips in one drive instead of driving out several times a day. Plot your route beforehand so you won’t have to go back and forth.

• Stick to the limit. Cruise at the speed limits; the faster a car is the more fuel it uses up. Cruising means keeping a constant speed without acceleration, and without acceleration, the engine is able to “relax,” using up less gas and therefore lessening the Toyota Premio’s fuel consumption.

• In a jam? Turn the engine off. Letting the car on idle for long periods of time wastes fuel, so if you think you’ll be caught in a queue for more than 3 minutes, switch off your engine.

• Keep your tires properly aired. Check to see of your tires are inflated to the recommended air pressure level.

• Proper maintenance. Replace your air filter when needed, and use the recommended fuel and motor oil to optimize fuel efficiency.

• Ditch the car altogether. If you will only be heading to the bakery a couple of blocks away, why not just walk or ride a bike? The best way to save on fuel, really, is to not use it. Driving less saves on fuel expenses and gives you a good exercise as well!

These are some of the suggestions you can do to lessen your Toyota Premio’s fuel consumption. What other tips can you think about? Feel free to share it!
