There is no local treatment to cure piles. The treatment of the basic cause chronic constipation is the only sustainable safeguard against this trouble. To begin the dietetic treatment (foods for hemorrhoids), the whole digestive tract must be given complete rest for a few days and the intestines cleansed. For this the patient should adopt an all-fruit diet for at least 7 days. Lentils and dal should be avoided as they constipate the bowels. The patient should abstain from meat, fish, sweets, rice, all fried foods, all white flour products, cheese, tea and coffee. Dry fruits such as figs, raisins and coconuts should form part of the well-balanced diet or foods for hemorrhoids. Never hurry through a meal and never eat to full stomach. Eat very slowly and chew your food as thoroughly as possible. Upon rising in the morning, have 25 black raisins soaked overnight in water kept in a copper vessel, along with the soaking water.
