1. Copy Theme A copy theme is an overall message that you are working with. If you surf the Internet and all the crap that is out there, you'll notice a lot of letters jump around and don't really offer a central message. This message is your theme. And if you construct a letter with a theme then it will hit home hard. For example... lets say you are selling high quality almonds in bulk through the mail. Obviously taste is important, but a different ankle on this could be to use a topical theme and find a recent story or study about the health benefits of almonds. Use this theme throughout the letter and you will write with power. 2. Selling Ability This may seem obvious because selling is what letters do... but... many times the writer will forget that they are selling. They get bogged down in the technicalities of writing a letter that is structured correctly. Don't forget that you need to sell the heck out of your product. I can't remember where I heard this story, but this one guy said that he would like to lock his best sales guy in a room and have him give his best pitch. Record that pitch, transcribe the pitch, and clean it up... there is your sales letter. Think like that. 3. Guarantee Here is a piece of this article that you would expect. But I am still surprised even today about how many people are afraid to use guarantees. You need them. First thing you must realize is that most people will never use the guarantee. I can't tell you how many products I have bought with the intention of using the guarantee to get my money back, but I still never used it. Yet that guarantee was the reason I bought... I gave me safety in purchasing. So don't fear the guarantee... use it! 4. No Links Unless you have testimonials that have website links, you should never have a link. I would never even use anchor links. These are the links that when clicked they take you further down the page. Links give your visitor a reason to leave your page. The only like that they should be clicking is the order link. I have seen so many sales letters that are peppered with links off the site. Here is a safe and fast rule... no links and try to minimize the number of clicks the prospect has to take to make the purchase. Next time you write copy yourself or hire a copywriter, make sure they either use these rules or don't use them... you know which is which. It will boost your response... make you more money... and make you a happier person. thesis writing
