Video on demand works on TCP/IP and is independent of the UDP/IP protocol. This technique helps in transmitting and receiving the audio and video bits in the same sequence with error free. Now the working with video on demand is very simple. If you are watching a video, then at the start, the video will be paused for some time. At this paused time, the initial packets of data which are delivered will be buffered for some time. Once buffering is done, then the video starts and the process continue without making the video to pause. As the video continues, the buffering is done at the forward end. But for this, a high speed broadband internet, so that the work of buffering is done continuously at the forward end without making the video still.
Technology of hotel video on demand
This is one of the advanced where the guests in some hotels provide different entertaining moving pictures of their choice. For hotel video on demand, there are five basic technologies which are being used. They are discussed below: This device converts the information source bits into desired codec like MPEG2 and then converts it into a stream able format. This reduces the chances of error and avoids the videos to pause. This server stores the content and helps in the streaming at the user end. With the help of this server, you can do fast forward or backward, pause, stop of the video. But the work of this is not so flexible due to the limitations imposed by the hard disk access speed, port speed and related hardware. This is a receiver which provides the user, the list of contents. The input of decoder is an RJ45 LAN port and helps in the communication of the IP network within the hotel campus. - Control management system
This helps to take in all the information from the user and keeps a track what the user is watching as video on demand. This helps the manager of the hotel to manage on the rights of the content viewed by the user.
