Straightforward things We can do to Sustain Strength as We Get Older

Fitness,Health,Seniors
Keeping the body fit as we age is something just about all of us wish for; however the percentage of those that actually accomplish it when they start to get into their 70’s and 80’s is rather small. Life expectancy in places such as Japan, Switzerland, Spain, Sweden and Israel has been markedly higher than in countries like the United States and the British Isles, and health care and eating habits certainly play a role. But those countries where individuals live longer also have a culture of being physically active, be it only going out and taking a stroll.

We have all known people who have been in the very best physical condition, however when they become elderly have an accident causing them to be bed-ridden for a while. Following duration of immobility they never are able to recover physically. We might attribute it to the natural effects of aging, but fairly modern testing has shown there is a lot more going on.

Tests on astronauts while in a gravity-free situation will be revealing. It has been established that there is near to ten times acceleration for the aging process as opposed to living in Earth’s gravity. This is calculated in bone tissue and muscle loss. Clearly those astronauts are in maximum physical condition, and diet shouldn't factor in. Really the only differentiation is lack of physical activity on a moment-to-moment basis, and without this resistance to gravity that people routinely undergo we begin to physically decline.

This relates to those who are bed-ridden, and might further be applied for people that sit in a chair in front of a computer for hours simultaneously. What all this means is our way of life determines how rapidly your body will age. And understanding that gravity takes on a huge role in our physical operation and therefore in the way we age, making easy alterations with our routines through the day would most likely have a key outcome.

The function of lipoprotein lipase within our system is to aide fat to move from your bloodstream into your cells. This fat uptake means the cells are going to be consuming this fat. Lipoprotein lipase it is discovered becomes dramatically reduced with movement and just by standing upright from the sitting position increases by this movement. In other words, many calories aren’t used up while standing, but you're helping your body to burn fat for fuel.

An exercise routine is vital, and everyone should make them a part of their way of life. But these non-exercise actions may also be necessary for reducing weight and keeping us young. To make the point further, it was found that standing upright from a sitting position had even more of an effect on cardiovascular and metabolic modifications than walking on a treadmill for fifteen minutes. Also, the stimulus with standing from a sitting position has to be spread across the length of a day. Said differently, it's easier to space out regular sitting and standing during the day instead of doing all of them at one time, and then plop down for the rest of the day.

There are many things we can do to help us become healthier and to age better, and diet is certainly a big part of it. Seniors are now getting more into yoga and other exercises such as Pilates to keep young. Jim O’Connell is a writer and avid health advocate now living in Chicago.
