You have chatted to her about marriage and you know that it's what she wants... and with you. It's really important to make sure you are both on the same page when it comes to marriage so subtly bring it up in conversation and see ow she reacts. If she is happy to talk about your future together then you are one step closer to getting engaged! 2. You have asked her father's permission. Yes, it may sound old fashion but it really is a great way to show your respect to her family and to explain to her father/mother why you want to marry her and how you will look after her. Believe us when we say one of the first things she will ask you when you have proposed is "Did you ask my parents?!" 3. You know you are ready for marriage. Marriage is, afterall, a big step so make sure you are 100% sure it's something YOU want to do. If you still find yourself lusting over other women, or imagine what it would be like without your girlfriends in your life (and feeling OK about it) then it's probably not the right route for you. 4.
