Determined to continually impact lives in all segments of the society, First City Monument Bank (FCMB) Plc on Friday, March 8, 2013 visited and donated various items to the Motherless and Abandoned Babies Home of the Nigerian Red Cross Society in Lagos. This donation made by the female staff of the organization was part of the financial institution’s activities to commemorate this year’s International Women’s Day. The items donated included foodstuffs, beverages, soft drinks, confectioneries and toiletries. According to the Divisional Head of Human Resources & Change Management of FCMB, Felicia Obozuwa, the gesture is in line with the bank’s commitment to recognise and support the well-being of the less privileged in the society. She stated that, “beyond celebrating the Women’s Day, we believe that as a corporate organization, mothers, wives and sisters, it is necessary to extend the hand of fellowship and love to the needy through charity programmes in times like this”. In his response, the Acting Secretary of the Nigerian Red Cross Society in Lagos, Mr. Daniel Umoh, commended FCMB for the donation of the items. He disclosed that, “the Home depends solely on charity donations for the upkeep and survival of the children”. Mr. Umoh urged individuals and corporate bodies to emulate the FCMB gesture, “in order to enable the Home perform its responsibility of providing the best of care and upbringing for these children so that they can develop to also contribute to national development”. In its bid to enhance the well-being of individuals and the society, FCMB has over the years actively invested in different communities and institutions across the country in its three critical areas of corporate social responsibility focus; namely Poverty Alleviation, Economic Empowerment and Environmental Sustainability.
