Rugs from Central Asia are famous globally not only for their functionality but also the looks and aesthetics. They are not just rugs but pieces of art and handicraft from the artisan weavers of the region. The motifs used on these products are traditionally inspired by Islamic art and architecture, since most of the dwellers of Central Asia belonged to this religion. The carefully developed motifs are actually the USP of these products. The motifs are developed purely out of weaving and are not sketched; thus the process is extremely complicated and tough, more so for a handloom weaver. Later on, geometric patterns have been tried on the products, but due to intervention of power looms, the richness in texture could not be reached.
