Rugs from Central Asia are famous globally not only for their functionality but also the looks and aesthetics. They are not just rugs but pieces of art and handicraft from the artisan weavers of the region. Among the home textiles for decorating the interiors, Oriental Rugs stand out alone and ahead of its competitors. These rugs not only have a high functional value but also a very rich traditional and aesthetic valuation. A long history goes into the making of these products. Originally, they came from Central Asia, where there was abundance of wool. However, this wool was not as fine as those from Australia and New Zealand. Thus, the variety was unsuitable for making finer cloths, although coarse ones could be made out of them. Thus came the rugs that were made out of coarse wool. The coarse variety might not have properties of good comfort, but they were great in capturing dirt and dust. Hence, the rugs out of them became functionally acceptable! The Oriental Rugs are chiefly made out of handlooms. They cannot be made on power looms although there is chance of higher productivity. Once they are made in power looms, they lose the intricacy that is there in their designs. In fact, the richness of their texture and design comes from extensive hand works only! This is the reason why some of the very old rugs have become pieces of history and are stored in various museums as reflection of art and handicraft of the periods. The motifs used on these products are traditionally inspired by Islamic art and architecture, since most of the dwellers of Central Asia belonged to this religion. The carefully developed motifs are actually the USP of these products. The motifs are developed purely out of weaving and are not sketched; thus the process is extremely complicated and tough, more so for a handloom weaver. Later on, geometric patterns have been tried on the products, but due to intervention of power looms, the richness in texture could not be reached. Even today, most of the Rugs for Sale comes from Central Asia. The customers are keen on the handiworks and it is the nature of handicraft on them that determine their prices. Besides Central Asia, a huge supply is from Kashmir in India and Afghanistan, since these places are also rich in coarse wool. Besides, the art of weaving the rugs have crossed borders and have affected the weavers and artisans in these places too! At our rug store, you may be sure of a huge variety in our products. We have for you the oriental as well as contemporary rugs. The contemporary ones are full of geometric motifs and come in a larger variety of size and shape. In fact, the traditional ones lack in this respect. They being made out of hand, come in limited and huge sizes. Thus, the Rugs for Sale often see an upsurge in traditional rug sales as compared to the contemporary ones.
