Working in the international business and trade field has given Kyu Hwan Yeo a taste for international experiences and travel. Having visited many different vacation spots, and having planned many successful and some challenging vacations, Kyu Hwan Yeo has some tips for how to plan fantastic vacations: 1. Figure out what you’re looking for, and how to achieve it. Decide what kind of vacation you want: peaceful? Re-centering? Relaxing? Exciting? Spiritual? Rejuvenating? Next, what kind of environment will help you feel those things? What activities should you plan? Should you bring anyone or travel alone? These are the types of questions that you should answer in the very beginning to start making a list of possible vacation spots! 2. Plan ahead and do your research. Visit travel review websites like TripAdvisor.com. Get a Lonely Planet book. Map out where you intend to go, what activities you might want to do, where you will stay. The more you plan ahead, the less surprises and stress you will have on your trip. 3. Bring the right amount of things. If you spend too much time on your computer and want to get away from it, don’t bring it. Pack all your things, and then take everything out and figure out how to remove 10% of your luggage – ask yourself which 10% of items you are least likely to want, use or need on your trip. Most people pack too much when planning vacations, and having too much luggage can make travel very cumbersome. 4. Be flexible. Things don’t always go according to plan – have a Plan B if you can, or just be willing to go with the flow! 5. Enjoy yourself. Sometimes, people spend so much energy trying to have a good time on their vacation, or make sure that everything goes to plan, that they forget to have fun. Don’t forget to live in the moment and enjoy being in the present.
