It is considered to be one of the healthiest ways to eat food. This diet is considered to be healthiest because it is related to the primitive approach of eating where nutrition is obtained in its most raw form. This system follows our ancestors dieting regime that was in existence around 10,000 years ago. It is also well suitable for our genetics as it helps us to stay physically strong, lean and energetic at all times. Modern diet is filled with foods that are made from highly refined sugars, flours, processed milk, and contains excess amount of trans fat which is the main reason that triggers various diseases such as obesity, heart disease, inflammation, diabetes, infertility, Parkinson’s syndrome, depression and Alzheimer’s disease.

Understanding Caveman Dieting

Paleo dieting mainly revolves around the nutritional plan of what our ancestors ate habitually during the Paleolithic era. The food list includes just wild plants and animals. On the other hand, the foods items in contemporary paleo dieting mainly consists of fresh fruits, vegetables, eggs, nuts, natural oils (flax seed oil, macadamia nuts oil, coconut oil, olive oil etc.); grass fed and pastures raised meat, fish and root. This modern version of the paleo diet mimics the pre – agricultural dieting pattern of our ancestors. The grass fed meat and the wild game meats that are consumed in paleo diet are considered to contain more omega – 3 fatty acids than the normal meat, according to nutritional experts. The diet excludes the consumption of beverages and alcoholic drinks. Foods such as grain, legumes, dairy products, salt, and processed oils are also excluded and have to be avoided by those who intend to follow the paleo dieting pattern.

Healthy Paleo Diet

In order to gain all the required nutrition from a paleo dieting lifestyle, planning and monitoring of the food we eat becomes really essential. A healthy paleo diet should consist of lean proteins, fruits and vegetable, herbs, spices and healthy fats from grass fed meat, avocados, nuts, seeds, fish oil, olive oil etc. The grass fed meat is the main source of protein and it must form the base of the paleo dieting pyramid, since proteins helps you to feel satiated and is essential for healthy bones and muscles. Vegetables and fruits are rich in anti – oxidants, vitamins, phyto nutrients and minerals, and eating a wide spectrum of vegetables and fruits will help to reduce the likelihood of developing degenerative diseases such as diabetes, cancer and neurological decline. Many studies have proved that consumption of diets that are rich in omega – 3 fatty acids and mono unsaturated fats help in reducing obesity, cholesterol levels, heart problems, diabetes etc.

Health Benefits of Paleo Dieting

Paleo dieting decreases the consumption of carbohydrates and thereby avoiding the accumulation of fat, since our body will burn the fat for energy. It helps in increasing the immunity of an individual, reduces the weight, balances the blood sugar level, and regulates the sleeping patterns.
