What is Titanium Dioxide?

Health,Advice,Fitness
If you’re wondering what is titanium dioxide then by the time you’re finished with this post, you’re going to know the history of this substance, how it affects humans, the risks involved, and what products contain it.

In 1791 a man named William Gregor of England loved studying mineralogy. One day he found a black sandy substance near his house, and named it menachanite.

Four years later a man named Martin Klaproth observed what Mr. Gregor found and identified an element that was previously unknown, which he named titanium after the titans that ruled Greek mythology.

Titanium dioxidide is famous for a few interesting things. For example it enables paint to not reflect light. Could you imagine if all painted buildings reflected light? Yea, we would all have to wear some major sunglasses especially in Mexico, since most houses are very colorful.

Another thing that makes this chemical beneficial is that it makes products white. Yep, it can be found in toothpaste and paint. Next up is that it can break apart nearly any organic substance when exposed to sunlight.

You might not realize why breaking up organic substances is beneficial right now, but it makes things very environmentally friendly. There is a company that is currently trying to make cement that soaks in nitric oxide and turn it into a substance to be washed away with rainfall. That is fairly cool right?

Next up is that it is usually seen in sunscreens. It works by reflecting and changing the direction of harmful UV radiation, just like nitric oxide. This UV radiation damages the skin, causes cancer and creates those deadly wrinkles.

Right now you’re probably thinking this stuff is the coolest thing since sliced bread. There is a dark side to titanium dioxide.

According to the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) this chemical causes respiratory tract cancer in rats when inhaling it.

An organization called CosmeticsDatabase.com has linked this substance to allergies, organ system toxicity as well as cancer.

More bad news is that research done by Escuela Superior has determined that it has a toxic influence on the brain, which causes brain damage.

The good news is that Environmentally Working Group has found that it is unlikely to be absorbed by the skin, since it’s found in sunscreen and cosmetics this is very good news. Maybe this is why sunscreen warns not to apply it to broken skin.

Regrettably it is found in some food products as well as some supplements, like the popular Centrum brand which is the number 1 vitamin supplement in the United States.

Centrum also uses synthetic vitamins, just like an estimated 95% of vitamin supplements, because they are cheaper to produce. What is wrong with synthetic vitamins is that according to the Organic Consumers Association they can’t be recognized or used by the human body like normal vitamins.

They also deplete your body of other nutrients and damage the liver over time.

The solution is to find good supplements that give positive benefits without the risks. It sounds easy, but it’s not because every product is going to say they are the best, and government agencies like the FDA in the U.S. don’t have the resources to validate the claims of every product.

Due to this I created a free report that can show someone what they should be looking for when buying a dietary supplement, and what they should be avoiding. If you’re wondering how much this report will end up costing in terms of money, you will be pleased to know that it is 100% free.
