The following Blackjack strategy uses many previously discussed terms such as "soft hand" and "insurance". If these mean nothing to you, you should read my other article first that explains in great detail what all of these terms mean. Whether you are a newbie just getting started with Blackjack or you have already played a hand or two, you no doubt have been left wondering whether there is a secret method to win in this wonderful game. Perhaps you have even heard stories about card counting and other well kept secrets the gurus don't want you to know? Well, we are not going to go into card counting today, although it's actually quite easy and pretty doable even for a beginner. No no, we are going to talk about 4 simple and easy to remember rules that will help you increase your odds of winning a Blackjack game with a ratio very close to 50/50. Of course in real life there is no 50/50 chances in casinos, however a 48% win rate is still huge and Blackjack is the only game you can get these kinds of odds. Rule number 1 If the dealer's up card is 7 or higher, continue to draw cards until you have a hard count of at least 17 or higher, or a soft count of 18 or higher. Rule number 2 If the dealer's up card is 6 or lower, draw cards until you have at least 12. Stop when you have 12 or higher. Rule number 3 Double down when your first two cards total 10 or 11, IF the dealer has a 9 or lower. Rule number 4 Always split aces and eights. Do not split any other pairs. I strongly suggest trying this method out yourself in casinos that let you play with fictional currency as a means for you to practice the games.
