The monsoons come as a relief after the sweaty hot summers; but brings with it the humidity, grime and the dirt and pollution do not make it any easier to manage the skin as well as hair. Make sure you keep these pointers in mind and we ensure you a healthy glowing skin: Good and effective cleansing using a soap free cleanser is a must. You could also use a gentle scrub (with mild beads) 5-6 times a week. Contrary to the popular belief do not wash your face more than twice a day. Follow up cleansing with toning (with an alcohol free toner) since increased humidity could open up your pores which leads to more oil secretion. Do not forget to apply sunscreen, even on cloudy days. Use a light lotion-based moisturizer or serum which will gently rehydrate your skin and also brighten it up. Refrain from oily moisturisers as they give your face a glossy shine (especially the nose and forehead). Avoid heavy makeup as it tends to smudge and form crack lines by the end of the day. Opt for waterproof products. Re-apply lip balm every couple of hours. Limpness, frizz and dullness; hair problems are perhaps an even bigger issue for most women. Remember these simple suggestions to tame that mane: Oiling (at least once a week) is recommended. Do not shampoo too often and keep the scalp dry. Conditioning becomes twice as important. If you suffer from frizz, use a leave-in conditioner. Avoid blow drying and straightening/curling. You can use funky clips or clutchers to keep the hair loosely together. And most of all, remember to nourish your skin from the inside too – eat salads, drink lots of fluids, avoid street food as rainy reason increases the infection chances by several times. Food for hair – milk and milk products, nuts, soya products.
