If you're like millions of people in the US and throughout the world, you no doubt wonder how you can be a healthier person, both physically and mentally. Some people seem to always be healthy and happy, as if their genes prevent any bad things from happening to their physical or mental health. These people are certainly in a minority and are of course, very lucky.

The reality of life is that not everyone can be that lucky. Still, there are a number of steps and lifestyle choices a person can make to improve their health and help them be happier and better people in general. Kristin Lund of Naples, FL spends her career helping others as a health and wellness coach. She has seen the power of healthy life choices change her clients’ lives for the better. She knows a great deal about what people can do to make their minds and bodies healthier and happier.

Over the years she has researched a lot about the topic and there are some general tips that can help people to be healthier and happier.

First of all, getting outside frequently is an important part of mental and physical wellbeing. Humans absorb vitamin D, an essential vitamin, from the sun. The sun also has a variety of psychological effects, which are very positive to a person's mood.

Regular exercise is an absolutely necessary part of making your mind and body healthier. Exercise strengthens the heart and reduces your risk for high blood pressure and heart disease. The brain also benefits from physical exercise because the exercise helps to improve your mood as well as reduce stress, anxiety, and in some people it can fend off depression.

Running and lifting weights helps a person maintain their weight or lose excess weight. In addition to controlling your weight, this sort of impact and weight bearing exercise benefits your bones and strengthens them, warding off problems like osteoporosis.

Engaging regularly in social events is also important for our psychological wellbeing. Humans are social animals and not being around people starts to affect a person's mood. Some people need less social interaction than others, but it is still something that all humans need. Loneliness is a big enemy of a healthy life.

Lastly, one of the best changes a person can make is to simply stop eating junk food altogether. Food and drinks loaded with sugar have been shown to be associated with a variety of health problems and avoiding them is the best bet for improving your health.
