Most of us have probably heard the phrase "learning to dance in the rain". How true it is. Remember, as children, when it would begin to rain, how we loved to go splash in the puddles, dance, jump up and down; lifting our face to the sky, trying to catch every raindrop in our mouth for a drink? It did not matter how cold it was, or how wet we were. We only wanted to have a good time being a kid. It is what we waited for. At those moments, we would have never even thought about rain becoming a storm in our life. We just enjoyed living. There would be no wondering what tomorrow would be, because we knew that Mom and Dad would take care of us. Had we known then what we know now, we probably would not have been playing outside in the rain. We would have stayed inside, while waiting for the storm to pass. Life has lessons for all of us. Some more hardcore than others. Those harsh circumstances that cause us to question our beliefs, faith, strength, and who we are as a person? Oh, man. They can be quite the challenge; Especially, if we were not expecting it. In our world, we expect our lives to be perfect, beautiful and without flaws, right? There should be no troubled waters, critical words, or friends who stab you in the back. There is not supposed to be any errors whatsoever. No, the sun should be shining all the time. Life sure has a funny way of showing us different. I went through a divorce, a few years ago. It was rocky. There were arrows of hatred, anger, misunderstanding, belittling, criticizing judgements and manipulation that were thrown at me from all sides. People who I thought were my friends, were not my friends at all. There were some who did not even know my situation, and they were judging me for something they knew nothing about except for one side, which was full of lies and twisted truth. They accepted those things, which they only heard, and condemned me for them. I did not talk much about it, because I am a private person usually. There are things that I just keep to myself. It's a safe route for me. Many times, I would cry from the very depths of my being, that it become wailing instead. I felt numb inside, and yet, I could not drown out all of the hatred pointed at me. There were mornings, I simply could not get out of bed. I did not want to face another day knowing that I would just be abused some more. I wanted it all to end. My hope for life was gone. Over time, I had I had a choice to make. I could either stay the victim, or I could tell myself to start by getting out of bed in the morning. Get dressed. Find nourishment physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. Be strong for my Lil Man. No matter how much I ached on the inside, I had to tell myself that I was better than this. I did not need to live the rest of my life in fear, depression, illness, anxiety and panic attacks. I needed and wanted to be "FREE!" And that's what I did. I asked for help from someone who challenged me to Live Life to it's fullest and not allow hard times ruin me. She helped me discover what I am really made of again. I am a better person today than I was yesterday. Thanks, Diane! I think that it takes more than just dancing "in" the rain. We have to understand that Life is interesting. It carries a sound of survival that can only come when we can hear the sound of it's rhythm. It's not always easy to find a dance when we are so down and out, or as I say, in a prison. It's a choice we have to make within ourselves. It's in that place where we find out just what we are made of. It's there where we discover our strengths and weaknesses. We never know how long the circumstance may last. All we know is that it will come to an end, eventually. Meanwhile, we can learn to dance "through" the rain and find a peace and rest in knowing everything will be alright. It will help bring a calm to our lives.
