Just a quick scan of the QR code – which could take but a few seconds – and guests can then proceed to tap on the link and have the free app installed. Voila! You’re ready to go. No need to fall in line. Then, a discerning customer will have started the “Eat fresh” dining experience made famous by Subway.Subway – tagged as the submarine sandwich store franchise and currently the largest restaurant chain worldwide –has continually broken new grounds with this mobile app. Sandwich by Design In more ways than one, mobile has given customers convenience never before possible. With this new Subway app, customers are given a “virtual production line”, according to Conversations by Nokia. Discerning consumers can now “build their sandwich” and how they want it done from start to its rightful finish: payment. Optimized mainly for mobile, the Subway app is designed to cater to customers hungry for a “quick service”. Instead of the hassle and waste of time – having to go physically into a store to make an order or inquire – customers can access quick information in real-time anywhere they are. Greater Comfort For Subway, mobile also makes possible more features that are otherwise impossible using other platforms. Not only can guests log-in using their existing SUBCARD account, they can create a new one via mobile to earn purchase points. SUBCARD allows customers to earn points when they make a purchase. Subsequently, these points can be used to redeem free Subway food items. Maximizing their phone’s GPS system, a customer can get to the nearest Subway or order from a store of his choice – to be picked up at a later point in time. This is made possible through the “Pickup Time” option in the Subway app. With a variety of options, customers can now skip the dreaded queue in-store and get their valued meals when they find it most convenient. Still in its initial run, residents of the Greater London area can already make the most of the app. That is about 184 stores. Not bad for a start. In the U.S., a total of 24,000 Subway stores are offering this mobile marketing experience.
