WESTFIELD - It's already five months into the school year and theWestfield Academy and Central School's yearbook is well under way. The past two years have made several advancements in Westfield'sstandards for the yearbook. The 2010 yearbook, "iRemember," wasstyled after the iPod design. The 2011 yearbook, entitled If "YouReally Knew Us," took a slightly more journalistic theme filledwith facts about the student body. This year, the Westfield yearbook staff is happy to announce 2012'sbook, "Seasons of Change." Contrastingly, "Seasons of Change" has aheavy focus on photography. In every Westfield yearbook, pride hasbeen taken in having a large amount of candid pictures that featurea great majority of the student body, and that is exactly what hasbeen done with this year's book. There is also a large amount ofnature photography and other sights in Westfield taken by membersof the yearbook staff. By featuring this photography, the hope isnot only to provide memories of the school, but also the town. Photography isn't the only new addition to the book. The title"Seasons of Change" perfectly describes the theme of the book. Forthe first time ever, the yearbook will be in chronological order. This means the happenings of the book will be ordered by the datesin which they occur and the book will be divided by the seasons ofthe year. For example, varsity basketball takes place in thewinter, therefore it will be in the "Winter" section of the book. However, because there isn't a season for staff and studentportraits, there is a section entitled "People" dedicated to suchthings. "I think that this year's yearbook is a major stepping stone foryearbooks to come in that it is completely different from whatwe've ever done," Editor Jade Gelsimino said. "I believe we canonly go up from here." "I'm very proud of the progress we have made so far," AssistantEditor Garrett Grant said. "The book will definitely show the workand talent from all of the members of the yearbook staff." "I'm so excited with what we have created and I can't wait foreveryone to see the finished product," Assistant Editor Sarah Kellysaid. Westfield Yearbook's advisor is business education teacher and9-year yearbook veteran, Kimberly Abbey.
