Grimy Bedroom Furniture Cleaning Tips

Interior Design,Home Improvement
Despite sitting in one of the most frequently used rooms in the home, many people are guilty of neglecting their bedroom furniture. The idea of taking a cloth and some polish to wipe away thick layers of dust isn’t all that appealing. However, if left to accumulate, this layer of dust will only become thicker and thicker, eventually becoming grime. And this unpleasant grime is much tougher to remove from bedroom furniture than dust and dirt – you’ll need to put a far greater amount of time and effort into bringing it back up to standards.

Therefore, it’s best to adopt a regular cleaning pattern when it comes to your bedroom furniture. Tidy round once every month and you’ll find the bedroom a far more appealing location within the home.

How exactly should you go about returning your bedroom furniture to its original, out-of-the-box glistening state? Are there any particular cleaning methods that work better than the rest? It’s often said that the key lies in simplicity and this is absolutely true when it comes to cleaning furniture in the bedroom. You may be tempted to rush out to your nearest supermarket, and purchase a selection of the most expensive cleaning solutions you can find. However, this is all very unnecessary. Many of the supplies you’ll need to require a far more obvious and won’t set you back a massive amount either.

To clean the surface of your bedroom furniture, you’ll need to remove any dust or dirt that might have accumulated. All you really need to do is take a clean dust cloth and wipe away this dust. If you’re looking to clean the higher points of your furniture – without having to awkwardly stand on something to reach – you could use a feather duster. Be warned, though, feather dusters have their downsides. If you work away too vigorously at the surface – whilst dusting – the feathers have a tendency to fall out, leaving you with even more mess to clean up.

Having done this, you can then go about giving whatever piece of bedroom furniture it is that you’re polishing a renewed sheen. Grab a can of household polish and apply to the surface – ensuring that you follow the instructions featured on the can. Take a soft cloth and begin to work the polish into the surface. You should notice a shine begin to return pretty quickly to your bedroom furniture.

If you’ve left your bedroom furniture to become dirty, grimy and genuinely unpleasant to look at, you’ll need to take a more rigorous approach – and, hopefully, learn your lesson. Create a concoction featuring lemon juice, denatured alcohol, olive oil and gum turpentine in equal amounts.

Ensure it’s well mixed before apply it with a clean soft cloth to the surface of your dirty bedroom furniture. You may need to put in some elbow grease, but you’ll soon find the grime removed and your bedroom furniture returned to a fantastic state. Just remember not to allow it to get this bad again!

Some homeowners are guilty of allowing their bedroom furniture to become extremely grimy by not cleaning it on a regular basis. This article looks at a couple of the ways in which a homeowner could clean their dirty furniture.
