Baidu Spins Off E-Commerce Unit Youa Baidu.com Inc (NASDAQ: BIDU), China's most used search engine, hasspun off its e-commerce unit Youa.com, which has received millionof dollars in venture capital funding from IDG-ACCEL and QimingVenture Partners. Baidu declined to reveal the exact amount andsaid Youa would focus on infant products, training, food,recreation and healthcare sectors as well as ticketing services. Changyou Acquires Gaming Site 17173 Changyou.com Ltd (NASDAQ: CYOU), a Chinese online game developer,said it paid $162.5 million taking over Chinese gaming site17173.com from Sohu.com Inc (NASDAQ: SOHU), which is Changyou'sparent. The deal is expected to be finalized by the end ofDecember. LDK Unveils ¥3b Notes Plan LDK Solar Co (NYSE: LDK), a leading Chinese photovoltaicmanufacturer, said it plans to issue ¥3 billion in notes toinstitutional investors in China.
The first tranche of ¥500million will be issued on December 7, 2011 and will be due onDecember 8, 2014. The second tranche of ¥500 million isscheduled to be issued in Q1 2012; the third tranche of ¥1billion is scheduled to be issued in Q2 2012; and the fourthtranche of ¥1 billion is scheduled to be issued in Q3 2012. Gome Profits ¥1.8b Through September Gome Electrical Appliances Holding Ltd (HKG: 0493), China's secondlargest chain store by revenue, posted ¥43.98 billion inrevenues and ¥1.79 billion in net profits for the first threequarters, up 18% and 24.4% respectively from the same period a yearago. Gome was operating 1,657 stores as of the end of September,including 61 Dazhong-branded stores and 555 stores whose assetswere not publicly traded.
