Last year I and my husband decided to reduce some weight but as I suffer from asthma, I cannot do high impact and vigorous exercises like running, jogging and walking. I just love water and enjoy being outdoors so both of decided to try a new sport about which we heard from my brother's husband, Mike who lives in Dallas. It is known as Stands up paddle boards or SUP. Most of the people prefer to use their own surf boards and just clichés a paddle since a stand up paddle is generally a surfboard with a paddle, but there are several new types of SUP's available in the market that come with a non slip surface on the top, therefore there is no need to use Surfax on it. The first time I decided to borrow the SUP of Mike. He has the surfboard and a paddle which he had rigged up by taping a broom handle along with a kayak handle all together with a waterproof tape. It is not at all conducive to learn how to run a SUP and after completing few wet episodes, I think that I landed on the water for a total of three times before I came across the "sweet spot" over the board and a right paddling stance I was cruising along and paddling like a champion. I used it the whole week we were in Dallas. I had lost about an inch around my midsection and my arms were feeling tighter and more muscled that they felt before. Definitely, that well-defined arm feeling could have just been my imagination but it made me feel good. On the other hand, my husband is a bit shorter than I am so he got the hang of all the things faster. Both of us wanted to continue doing stand up paddle boarding at home too, so we have been looking into varieties of stand up paddle board to choose between them. Finally, I decided to go with the inflatable stand up paddle board and an adjustable stand up paddle. Now, both of us were able to use the same SUP and paddle at the same time as it could be easily adjusted to my taller height and my husband's shorter height. I have also decided to buy an adjustable paddle this Christmas for Mike so that next time when we are at Dallas, we can enjoy a race to see who is better in using a SUP. I think cannon paddles make a perfect Christmas gift idea for him as he can easily pack it in his suitcase and take it all along Dallas without giving any extra shipping charges. If you are interested in purchasing your own SUP or adjustable paddle for someone you love, check for them online. You will find millions of websites offering different types of paddles and SUP. Stand up paddle boarding is really a fun filled task and is also regarded as the best way to enjoy the water. It is a great exercise too.
