They are given as follows: Rarity: Price of a carat is decided on the price per carat. It is a very obvious fact that gemstones that are rare in existence are prices more than the other gemstones. Sapphires and rubies are expensive than Garnets and Amethysts. A difference in price can also be seen within the same class of the gemstone. For instance: a Burmese Ruby is more expensive than a Thai Ruby. This is due to the reason that the former is even rarer than the later. Colour: Second most important thing is the colour. The gemstone colour is made of hue stone and saturation. The more pure the colour of the gemstone is, the higher is its price. It is also important to remember that the colour of the gemstone varies from one region to another region. Clarity: More clarity of the gemstone means the price will also be more. Fine inclusions of the gem are a proof to the fact that the gem is natural and has not undergone any type of treatment or enhancements. Gemmologists call these inclusions as Jardins. Apart from the factors that are mentioned above other things like the place of origin, the type of treatment and the political conditions of a country are also responsible for determining the price of a gemstone.
