Overview : If your compensation programs are going to stay current with a moving marketplace, with changing demographics and with a ongoing need to attract, motivate and retain the right caliber of employees for your organization, you're going to have to revisit the usefulness of your current programs, usually on an annual basis. In order to get those compensation plans updated, adjusted and ready for next year you'll first need to know the effectiveness of your current program(s), and then you'll need a game plan for reviewing, analyzing and developing the recommendations for change. Not everything needs to change of course, but unless you know your competitive posture vs. both competitors and the general market, you'll be left "winging it" with ad hoc initiatives that are usually too little, too late and usually not well received by employees. This session will walk attendees through the practical steps that are necessary to update and reinvigorate your compensation programs. What to do and how to do it. And after the technical analysis steps are completed we'll discuss the inevitable battle with Finance for funding and then what considerations it will take to get your recommendations approved by senior management. You will have to sell your ideas. Finally we'll close the loop by going from approval to communication and ultimately implementation, to make sure that you don't drop the ball at the end of the process. Why should you attend: If you're responsible for developing those recommendations, are on the project team working on those recommendations, or are in a leadership role where the recommendations come across your desk, the information shared during this session will offer practical advice that you can immediately implement. In terms of rewarding employees, standing still is the same as sinking. The external world is changing, moving all the time. Meanwhile, your internal employee dynamics are in a constant state of flex, and the question of how competitive are your reward programs becomes ever more important and pressing as the fiscal year nears a close. What are you going to do for next year? Attendees will be told what to do, how to do it, and what steps are necessary to get your recommendations, presented, sold (approved) and ultimately communicated. Along the way we'll also tell you about the minefields that await the unwary. Areas Covered in the Session: The need for a game plan What does "reward" mean in your organization? Steps you should have already taken Knowing what's right and wrong with your programs What to do about competitiveness Is the status quo good enough?
