Located in the district of Dehradun, Mussoorie is one of the most popular hill stations in the whole of India, and also one of the best. With an envious location of being at the foothills of the Garhwal Himalayan ranges, this hill station is also known as the Queen of the Hills. The city also extends to the city of Landour, which comes under 'Greater Mussoorie'. The city is full of natural beauty, has a dreamy and foggy look, and also possesses a pleasant and sometimes freezing cold atmosphere. It is ideal for spending a vacation, just for the different experience. The city is located at an altitude of 1880 meters, and is surrounded by beautiful flora and fauna. As mentioned earlier, the hill station has a magical effect on the tourists, almost an out of this world one. The name 'Mussoorie' comes from a shrub predominantly found in this area called 'Mansoor', which is still the name by which the locals sometimes refer to the city. The one thing that Mussoorie is famous for is the cloudy mornings, which is so rreal to look at. Being a hill resort which gets thousand s of tourists, it has all the facilities for leisure and amusement. Some of the major attractions in Mussoorie are the waterfalls in and around the city. They are in full bloom just after monsoon, which is the perfect season to visit Mussoorie. One of the more famous waterfalls is the Kempty Falls. This fall is the most visited one by tourists. It is located at a mere 15 kilometers from Mussoorie. The wonderful falls can be enjoyed by taking a dip in the cool waters from the pool. There is accommodation available around Kempty Falls, in case one wants to take time to explore the natural beauty around the falls. Another waterfall that is pretty famous and closer to Mussoorie than the Kempty Falls is the Bhatta Falls. Located at a distance of 7 kilometers from Mussoorie, it has the added advantage of being a bit far ahead on the top, due to which people trek their way to the falls. The scenery at Bhatta Falls is stunning to say the least. The falls disappear into wild lush greenery which is a unique sight. One can bathe in the pools created by the falls, with tea/coffee stalls nearby. All in all, it is a memory of a lifetime. The Jharia Pani falls are situated at a distance of 8 kilometers from the city. After a kilometer long stretch of walking amidst beautiful greenery, the falls are photogenic and awe-inspiring. The fun at hotels in Mussoorie is that almost all are located strategically close to the landmarks of the city. Many types of hotels are available, from luxury to budget ones. An awesome view of the landmarks will await the guests as they wake up from a long peaceful sleep. Various amenities such as internet connectivity, gymnasiums with steam rooms, premium services etc. are available. One can spend two to three days in a hotel, explore the whole of Mussoorie and have fun with the family. After all, the best hill station will undoubtedly offer the best.
