CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. -- George W. Huguely V sat frozen with his mouth open and his handresting on his chin, his gaze fixed on the Charlottesville policedetective who told him that his ex-girlfriend, Yeardley Love, diedby his hands. Huguely dropped his head and covered his head with his hands. "How is she dead?" he asked. "You just told us," Detective Lisa Reeves responded. This was just one of the disturbing scenes shown to the publicTuesday in Charlottesville Circuit Court. After months of arguingand planning, the nonsensitive evidence from Huguely's murder trialwas made available to the public despite objections from Huguely'sdefense attorneys, who said a motion for retrial was likely. Huguely was convicted of second-degree murder and grand larceny inFebruary. A jury recommended he serve 26 years in prison for theoffenses. He will be formally sentenced Aug. 30. On Tuesday, a small crowd, composed mostly of reporters, gatheredto watch Huguely's interrogation tape, filmed the morning of May 3,2010. Before he learned that Love died, Huguely said he thought he wasbrought in to the police department to answer to assault charges. He insisted that he did not hurt Love and that the violent episodethe night before was typical of their relationship. Huguely, who was noticeably slurring his words at the start of thetape, admitting to drinking between 15 and 20 alcoholic beveragesthe day leading up to Love's death. He seemed confused about theexact number of drinks. When Reeves asked Huguely if he had taken anything from Love'sapartment, he said he had not. When asked specifically about Love'slaptop, Huguely admitted taking the computer. He said he took it "because I was so pissed that she wouldn't talkto me. I took it as collateral, I guess." He admitted that "it'snot reasonable logic." Huguely also seemed to be unsure of how he entered Love's bedroomthat night. At first, Huguely said he knocked on Love's door andshe told him to come in. When Reeves asked him if the bedroom door was locked, Huguelypaused for a moment and then said that it was. "I think I put a hole in the door. I'm pretty sure now," he said. In addition to the interrogation tape, a series of photographs, emails, scanned documents and text messages were made available forviewing. Copies of emails between Love and Huguely in the days leading up toher death were displayed. Love apologized for hitting Huguely withher purse and said she had "never been in a relationship like thisbefore." The emails quickly grew argumentative. Love admitted to "hookingup" with another man while visiting friends at the University ofNorth Carolina at Chapel Hill but said she did not sleep with him."Either way you deserve it. You're the biggest scumbag I ever met,"she wrote. "That's so [expletive] up on so many levels. I should have killedyou," Huguely wrote in another email. "You should have killed me? You're so [expletive] up," Loveresponded. Photographs depicting the heavy bloodstains on Love's pillow andsmaller stains on her carpet also were shown. The audience sawphotographs of cuts and bruises on Huguely's arms and legs takenshortly after his arrest. At a recent hearing, Judge Edward L. Hogshire declined to rule onthe proposal to make sensitive evidence, such as autopsyphotographs, available to the public, saying he would revisit thematter after his vacation. Hogshire is scheduled to return to courtthis week. The e-commerce company in China offers quality products such as 3G IP Camera Manufacturer , China WiFi IP Cameras, and more.
