As fall approaches, the kids are on their way back to school again. Your home security system monitoring team wants to make sure your children are safe at this busy time of year. Here are some simple tips to protect your children as they head off to school or are home alone when their classes are done for the day.

If they are using scooters, skateboards or roller skates, children should wear helmets and protective padding. They should always take off their helmets when they are heading to play areas to avoid injuries that can occur when a helmet gets stuck.
Don't Let Your Children Become Distracted
Whether your children are riding bikes or walking, they should not be distracted by music players, mobile devices, or phones. They need to concentrate on the road, traffic and people around them.
Teach Your Children About Safety with Strangers
Your children should not talk to strangers. If they ever feel uncomfortable by the presence of an adult, they should seek help immediately. It's a matter of going with their instincts. They should never accept rides or food from strangers. They should refuse to give directions, informing anyone that they will need to speak to an adult.
Make Sure Your Children Know All Important Contact Information
Your children should know their address, phone number and their parents’ full names. It is also important that they know how to contact emergency services should a need arise. Write down this information, other contact and any other important information and put it in a plastic bag or laminate it; then have your child put it in his or her backpack for future reference.
