Cell phone detector is a handy pocket sized transmission detector that can sense an activated mobile phone from a distance of one and-a half meter. This device is very useful as it helps prevent the use of mobile phones in confidential rooms, examination halls and in places where mobile phones are not allowed. It is useful in detecting the use of mobile phones for unauthorized video transmission, spying etc. even if the mobile phone is kept in the silent mode the circuit can detect the incoming and outgoing calls, SMS and file transfer such as music files, video files or any other kind of data. The device starts sounding an alarm and the LED blinks the moment the bug detects an RF transmission signal activated from an activated cell phone. Until the transmission signal ceases the alarm continues to ring. The transmission frequency of cell phone lies in the range from 0.9 GHz to 3 GHz and the wavelength lies in the range from 3.3cm to 10cm and therefore a circuit detecting gigahertz signal is required for a mobile bug. The following components along with their quantity are used in making the circuit. 1) A 5 inch long antenna 2) Capacitors of 22picofarad (2), 0.22microfarad (1), 100 microfarad (1), 47picofarad (1), 0.1microfarad (2), 0.01microfarad (1), 4.7microfarad (1) 3) Resistors of 200k, 100k, 1k, 12k, 15k, 2.2M (2) 4) IC CA3130, NE555 5) Transistor BC548 6) Buzzer 7) on/off switch 8) Power supply 16v Battery 12v 9) One LED Cell phone detector is also known as mobile phone sniffer. The principle on which this device works is that whenever the antenna receives a signal, the signal is converted to charge in simple words it uses a detector that converts signal to charge. This sniffer circuit uses an antenna which receives the signal. Mobile phones always keep on looking for a strong signal that is present in a area nearby thus transmitting data through signals every time. This signal is detected by the antenna of the sniffer circuit which feds signal to a detector. The detector then converts the signals to charge which is then amplified. This amplified signal is then converted to a sound signal which is fed into a speaker. Thus whenever there will be a mobile near a sniffer, speaker will generate a sound and the cell phone can be detected. The illegal use of cell phones is a very dangerous and growing problem in institutions, prisons, worldwide and is a threat to security. To curb this illegal use of cell phones cell phone detector is used. It provides full height detection, omnidirectional detection. It saves space and is robust and lightweight and can be carried anywhere. This device has a vast scope in future as effort is going on to increase the detecting range of the detector to few more meters for observing wide range of area.
