GLADSTONE, New Jersey: World No. 1 Yani Tseng of Taiwan and WorldNo. 2 Na Yeon Choi of South Korea were ousted from the LPGA SybaseMatch-Play Championship with third-round losses on Saturday. Taiwan's Candie Kung reached the last eight with a 3-and-2 victoryover Tseng while American Morgan Pressel edged Choi in 19 holes toadvance into Saturday afternoon's quarter-finals. The semi-finalsand final are on Sunday. Kung, ranked 49th and seeking her first LPGA title since 2008,birdied the par-4 15th and par-3 16th holes to eliminate Tseng fromthe $1.5 million event at Hamilton Farm Golf Club. Tseng opened with a birdie but Kung won the next three holes,seizing the lead for good with birdies at the par-5 second andpar-4 fourth around a win when Tseng took a bogey at the par-3third. Tseng birdied the win the par-5 fifth but lost the sixth with abogey and Kung answered with a birdie to win the seventh hole for a3-up advantage before Tseng won the par-3 eighth on a birdie andthe ninth when Kung birdied. Kung opened the back nine with a birdie before both women took abogey at the par-5 11th and parred the par-3 12th. Tseng won the13th with a par to pull within 1-down, but Kung's closing birdiessent the overall top seed packing. Paraguay's Julieta Granada, ranked 41st, edged France's 40th-rankedKarine Icher 1-up to book a quarter-final date with Tseng onSaturday afternoon. The South American birdied the par-4 17th andmatched Icher's par on 18 to advance. Pressel was 2-down to Choi with three holes to play but birdied the16th and 17th to square the match. Both parred the 18th before15th-ranked Pressel won the first playoff hole to advance. The next foe for Pressel will be Sweden's 26th-ranked AnnaNordqvist, who defeated South Korea's 10th-ranked Amy Yang 3 and 1. Other quarter-final matchups send sixth-ranked American Stacy Lewisagainst Spain's 19th-ranked Azahara Munoz and 13th-ranked So YeonRyu of South Korea against 37th-ranked American Vicky Hurst. Munoz eliminated England's Jodi Ewart 2 and 1, the same score bywhich Hurst ousted compatriot Angela Stanford.
