Those in the business world know the value of having a talent for sales. Salesmen can be some of the most successful people in the world, but at the same time there are very many mediocre salesmen working. Greg Austin of Chattanooga has run his own business since the late 1980s. Since that time he has had to act as a salesman many times over, even though he owns his own business. In fact, he often says that every business owner is a salesman whether they actually sell products or not. The owner has to sell his business and services to others! Over the years he has picked up a lot about being a successful salesman. Keep reading below to find out some good tips for doing sales right and convincing people that you can provide exactly what they need! - Listen More than You Talk - Believe it or not but one of the best ways to improve your salesmanship is to be a better listener. Ask questions of your customers to find out what they truly want. Pay attention, make notes, and use the information you learn to make a better argument for whatever you're selling.
- Don't Be All Business - If you have to give a presentation or have a lot of formal information to go through, don't immediately start with that. Be friendly and normal - you don't have to make friends. Get to know the people, even if it's briefly. Create a connection that isn't just about business.
- Never Answer Questions that Aren't Asked - There's no need to bring up any additional information that the customer hasn't asked about, especially if will raise any doubts in the customer!
- Never Assume - It's very important for a salesman to never assume to know what a customer wants or needs. Let them do the talking and tell you exactly what they need. This puts you in a great position to make a sale.
