Rajasthan is located to the east of India. Hindi is the official language here but Rajasthani is the primary language spoken. The culture of Pushkar Fair 2013 can mainly be divided into the following categories- 1. Music-The music and dances of Rajasthan oftentimes tell stories of heroic deeds, adventures, battles and romance. Ghoomar is a trademark women’s dance. Kachi Godi dance involves the use of dummy horses. The Chari dance is also a very popular dance .It requires great skill as dancers are required to dance with a pot on their head with a diya placed on the top. The main instruments used for music are ghungroos .It comprises of several beads strung together and is worn as an anklet. The Dhol is a twin faced wooden drum. Other important instruments used are - sarangi (a bowed short necked string instrument), ektara (a one stringed instrument), morchang (a wind percussion instrument), ghoraliyo etc. 2. Food- Rajasthani food is mainly influenced by marwari Pushkar Fair 2013 culture and also on the availability of ingredients. The cuisine of Rajasthan is primarily vegetarian and involves a lot of use of ghee, spices and also a lot of milk, buttermilk and butter. There is an enormous variety of sweets as well. Some of the popular dishes are - churma (coarsely ground wheat crushed and cooked with ghee and sugar), rabdi (sweet dish made with yoghurt), kadhi (made with besan), papad ki sabji,boondi, laapsi, gheevar, imarti etc. The non vegetarian items include Mohan maans (cooked in milk),Laal maans(meat cooked in red chillies curry) ,Safed maans (cooked in curd) etc. 3. Festivals-The people of Pushkar Fair 2013 celebrate several festivals throughout the year .The important festivals of Rajasthan are as follows- The Desert festival of Jaisalmer, Matsya festival, Pushkar fair, Gangaur festival, Brij festival in honour of Lord Krishna, Kajli Teej celebrated in Bundi, Marwar festival dedicated to folk heroes, Mewar festival which marks the beginning of spring. 4. Clothes/Costumes- Pushkar Fair 2013 clothes have a lot of colour and mirror work. Women wear ghagra and kanchli(long skirt and top) .Sarees may either be cotton or silk and are usually embroidered. The odhni is a specialty of Rajasthani costume. It is a piece of cloth worn by women one end of which is tucked in the skirt and the other end is taken over the head .The male dress up in Angarkha (made of cotton) .During festivals or special occasions people can be seen wearing printed angarkhas .A Dhoti is a piece of cloth which is used to cover the lower part of the body .Kamarbandh or Patka is a kind of waistband .Turban is the headgear or the cap .The shoes which are created from goat, camel or sheep skin are known as jootis or mojris.These are decorated with embroidery and mirror work. Rajasthan is famous for its jewelers as they have a distinct style and are embellished with emeralds and other precious stones. The tribal women wear brass, silver and white metal ornaments.
