As a motorcycle police officer, Nicholas Brems has had more hours in the saddle of a motorbike than the vast majority of riders in modern times. Nicholas Brems' time in a motorbike seat has included everything from high speed chases to traffic stops, and Nicholas Brems has seen it all when it comes to people riding motorcycles. As a police officer, Nicholas Brems knows how important it is to follow safety regulations and make sure to avoid risks. Nicholas Brems has given a few tips on how to safely ride a motorcycle for those who are interested. - Take A Class: Riding a motorcycle is not something that comes naturally for most people. Nicholas Brems has seen many individuals get themselves in wrecks or worse by trying to learn on the road. Nicholas Brems knows how important it is for new riders to receive proper instruction. In Nicholas Brems' view, being taught by an expert can save people's lives once a new rider is out on the road. Nicholas Brems encourages all new owners of motorcycles to take a motorcycle safety class to learn as much about their machine as possible. By taking a class, Nicholas Brems knows that riders will be more likely to know their bike's habits.
- Wear A Helmet: A large majority of major injuries that occur on motorcycles are inflicted on individuals who do not wear their helmet when they ride. By declining to wear a helmet, riders risk permanent brain damage and other injuries should they wreck. Nicholas Brems reminds riders that it is the law in many states that requires them to wear a helmet. However, Nicholas Brems encourages riders in states that do not enforce this type of law to wear their helmets as well. It may not be stylish, but for Nicholas Brems, survival trumps style every day of the week.
- Watch The Weather: Regardless of how talented a rider someone is, or how long they have been sitting on a bike, bad weather can ruin a ride and make it dangerous for riders and other motorists. Nicholas Brems strongly encourages riders to avoid riding in scenarios in which the weather is not cooperative. For Nicholas Brems, wet roads are hard enough to handle on four wheels, and two wheels on the road is asking for trouble when the weather is bad. Nicholas Brems believes that riding a motorcycle should be saved for the better weather days of the year.
