Old age is one question mark that raises so many health complications in many individuals that needs a good care and good concern at the right time. Geriatrics is the care for old age people, quite different from gerontology which is the study of the aging process itself. Geriatrics is derived from Greek word geron meaning "old man" and “iatros” meaning healer. It precisely focuses on the health care of elderly people. Geriatrics is sometimes called medical gerontology. The focus on geriatrics is increasing day by day as the life expectancy of people has grown dramatically. There are more number of elderly people rising all over the world especially in India who seek medical care. In India, we have growing percentage of greying population from 77 million at beginning of last century to around to 100 million. Healthy aging is good sign of having an immune system that is perfectly blending with speed of age growth. People with good health and immune system can prevent or slow the process of disease and regulates the speed of ageing process. The elderly population of nation contribute a lot during their productive years; it is our responsibility to safeguard their health and fitness. There is a great need to focus and concentrate on the medical and health needs of elderly population. To create awareness and bring more limelight to the need of geriatrics, many professionals and experts in that area in collaboration with BioGenesis - The Euro-Indian Health Cluster (UK) and Federation of Asian Biotech Associations (FABA) Hyderabad have organised an international conference. The conference is going to be held in Bangalore to bring the core niche people and professionals in the area of geriatrics to discuss, enrich and develop more innovative thoughts on upgrading the addressing needs of old aged people and their health problems. The conference could deal and focus on normal ageing processes, ageing body, preventive measures for ageing problems , how to cope with 'diseases of older age', enlighten the best nutrition practices in older adults, usage of health guidelines for older adults across the aging continuum, explore epidemiology and risk factors for falls in hospital settings, find ways to use standardized patients in education and assessment, creating a forum for exchange of ideas and clinical experience with expert faculty and colleagues specializing in the care of older adults. “World Congress of Gerontology and Geriatrics”, is the 2nd International Conference on “HEALTHY AGEING IN THE CHANGING WORLD 2013” to be held on 30th September and 1st October (celebrated as Elder's day)2013 at Bengaluru, India. The sequel of the conference is the result from the overwhelming response and the loud success of the conference on Geriology, Geriatrics Medicine and Rehabilitation titled “INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON HEALTHY AGEING IN THE CHANGING WORLD 2012” held on 29th September, last year at the same venue and location to be held this year.
