An e-cigarette is a modern age substitute for traditional cigarette/cigar and nicotine patches. It is smokeless and safer than smoking tobacco. An electronic cigarette (or e-cigarette), personal vaporizer (PV), electronic nicotine delivery system (ENDS) is an electronic vaporizer. Electronic cigarette is a new electronic nicotine-delivery system that looks like a real cigarette but delivers nicotine without any smoke.It stimulates and substitutes for smoking tobacco. The first electronic cigarette was patented in 1963 a device described as “a smokeless non-tobacco cigarette”. With its introduction to the U.S. market in 2007, it offers the nicotine-addicted an alternative to tobacco smoking. Electronic cigarette offers the nicotine-addicted an alternative to smoking tobacco. Most “e-cigarettes” are similar in appearance with the regular cigarettes. The main difference between the two is that the e-cigarette does not contain tobacco. It has a mechanism that heats up liquid nicotine, which turns into vapor that smokers inhale and exhale. Electronic cigarette resembles the traditional tobacco cigarette but the composition differs. The component of e-cigarette includes e-liquid, a cartridge, an atomizer and a power source. The cartridge serves as a both an e-liquid reservoir and mouthpiece. It allows the passage of liquid into the atomizer and vapor from the atomizer to the user's mouth. When liquid is finished, users can refill the cartridge or replace it with another ready-filled cartridge. The atomizer consists of a heating element responsible for vaporizing liquid, as well as a wicking material that draws liquid in. "Dripping" atomizer from the fluid reservoir. Some models use a power button that must be held during operation while others use electronic air flow sensor which is simply triggered by drawing breath through the device. The e-cigarette is gaining popularity among the youths. As the e-cigarette is smokeless it is more suitable for smoking in the public place. Switching to electronic cigarette has become a new life style. With no tobacco and tar ingredients it is safer. As to what role e-cigarette play in anti smoking efforts is still unanswered. The benefits and risks of e-cigarette is not known. As far as general concern it’s obviously safe for the smoker as well as people around him (passive smokers).
