A real prophet receives visions of the not so near future and that of the distant one. However if all they talk about is the next century or millennium then they might turn out to be false. Also their prophecies should always be accurate. If they say something will happen in a specific time then it should, else their vision was not sent from God. Whereas there are preachers who preach on abstraction matters true prophets do not. On the bible there was not even one prophet who talked about good things that are supposed to come in the future. On the contrary they usually gave guidelines as to how to overcome challenges et al. If you do not believe in something you will fall for anything. Therefore if you just want to hear about things you only fantasize about then that is exactly what will fool you into following false prophets.
