Various B-schools in India organize various events to help students achieve a broader perspective on management and business education. Keeping this goal in mind the IIMs organize several management events for their students. Indian Institute of Managements organize seminars and conferences every year which are attended by renowned people or personalities from across the world. Exchange of ideas is one of the important ways to usher in new perspectives. These events, thus, help not only the students but the faculty as well. The events organized at IIM C are undoubtedly some of the best ones in Indian B-schools. Established in November 1961 IIMC is recognised as the first institute of its kind. Since its inception, the institute has grown in leaps and bounds and is acknowledged as one of the best in the country. The following programs are offered here: • Post Graduate Program in Management (PGDM) • Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Aided Management (PGDCM) • Post Graduate Program for Executives (PGPEX) • Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management (PGDBM) • Fellow Program in Management (FPM) Hence, the events organized here are in sync with the courses and subjects offered to the students. While IIMC plays host to several management and cultural events, the Intaglio is, probably, one of the most popular management events organized by the institute. It has been organized by IIMC since 1989 as a three-day event in January. In this international business summit well known personalities from the field of government, media and academics participate and interact through workshops, conferences and seminars. There are lectures and discussions on various topics that benefits the students to a great extent. Usually held in a weekend, the event is followed by corporate dinners. This again provides an opportunity to interact and develop inter-personal skills. Besides this management event, there are several academic groups at IIM-Calcutta where the students can enroll themselves: • Behavioural Sciences • Business Ethics and Communication Group • Economics • Finance and Control • Human Resource Management • Management Information Systems • Marketing • Operations Management • Public Policy and Management • Strategic Management Another important event organized by IIM C is Lattice. It is held on an annual basis by the PGPEX. It is another platform where students can interact with eminent personalities from various industries. The guest list includes people from Indian industries, IIM C alumnus and students from other business schools. Lattice includes an interesting programme list of Panel Discussions, Business Quiz and Alumni Meet. Besides these management events, lectures and workshops are scheduled throughout the year that help students gain a better insight of the subjects that they are already dealing with in the classrooms. People of eminence grace these events. Cultural event, like, the Carpe Diem is also organized by IIM-C. This, too, is an annual event and a cultural fest. Students from various B-schools participate in it. In East India, it is recognized as one of the largest B-School Cultural Fest. Symphony, Armageddon, Razzmatazz and Euphoria are regular events at Carpe Diem. Such management events bring together reputed academics and successful entrepreneurs. For students these provide a wonderful opportunity to gain better insight into a life they are already preparing for.
