There are some three things that make a LED spotlight attractive. And that is in spite of the fact that, on average, such a LED spotlight is likely to be costlier than one based on ordinary filament/halogen bulbs. In other words, it is on account of the three things we are just about to look at, that we see people opting to fork out extra cash, to buy the (slightly costlier) LED-based spotlights, rather than buying the cheaper halogen bulb-based spotlights. Thus, although the spotlight is indeed likely to be costly in terms of initial procurement costs, it is likely to be cheaper in the long run, due to the low maintenance costs. When we talk about low maintenance costs, we are making reference to something like the fact that this sort of spotlight is unlikely to require frequent bulb replacements. That is because LED bulbs hardly ever burn out. They are unlike ordinary filament/halogen bulbs, whose nature is such that they keep on burning out, and requiring to be replaced (often at quite a considerable cost). At another level, we are also looking at the cost of power: in a scheme where the power used by a LED-based spotlight is but a fraction of the power used by an ordinary filament/halogen bulb-based spotlight. The difference in terms of efficiency is appreciable, and you may find that the extra amount of money you spend on the LED-based spotlight is recouped in a matter of months, on account of power bill/battery savings. The second thing that makes a LED spotlight attractive is the fact that such a spotlight is likely to be reliable. The reliability is brought about by the fact that the LED bulbs in these spotlights don’t (as we have mentioned) tend to burn out. A spotlight based on a halogen bulb is, conversely, unreliable. That is because the bulb can burn out pretty much anytime -- especially if the spotlight is subjected to being switched on and off continually, as indeed is usually the case in the usage of these spotlights. The third thing that makes a LED spotlight attractive is the fact that such a spotlight is likely to be capable of producing very high quality light. There is agreement in many places that the quality of light produced by LED bulbs (like the ones in LED spotlights) tends to of a much better quality than that which is produced by halogen bulbs.
