The ultimate question to ask when choosing among the different podiums is "how will I use it?" There are two main answers: With a tradeshow display, or without supporting materials. Introducing a tradeshow display distracts from the emphasis of the lectern, but provides incredibly valuable visual support for your words. Wooden podiums are still very popular and work well for many public environments. There are newer wooden podiums that are just as effective as the clear acrylic or truss styles. When you combine new features with the beautiful solid wood used to build them, these lecterns have an undeniable presence. Some new features that are available in the newer models include the option of using either a slanted surface, or a flat top reading area. In teaching public speaking, I find that many of my clients, as well as my students, stand at the lectern or on the podium and try to be someone or something they are not. These stands are very light to handle, which makes them easy to relocate from one place to another. So I believe it is the second however I would just like to confirm.
