The temporary fencing businesses in Abu Dhabi has been facing some stringent rules in the last few years. It has not been any easy for the fields in this group to thrive lately. The Abu Dhabi municipality has urged the construction firms to abide by the rules set for the temporary fencing around buildings. According to these rules, no movable or fixed structures or storing of construction materials are allowed to be stored outside the utility line or the construction boundary. Helping preserve properties, maintaining public safety by providing high standards of security in all construction sites has been the translating the strategies of Municipality of Abu Dhabi. The building codes and executive regulation emphasises the contractors to observe and follow the rules set for the construction of temporary fences in Abu Dhabi. This has been a crucial step the demands the constructors to seek permission to construct the temporary fences according to stipulations of Law No (4) for 1983. These are the measures taken in order to ensure pedestrian safety and the risk of falling debris and building materials and equipment from the surrounding properties and buildings which adheres to the safety of environment and health regulations. These have imparted the importance of the quality of materials and level of workmanship according to the Law. Recently the civic administration has banned the use of temporary wooden fencing in Abu Dhabi. This emphasises the use of metal enclosures at the construction as they are reusable and are environmental friendly too. This ban does not only imply to the construction sector, but also to other departments using temporary fencing like maintenance projects, sanitation, agriculture and other works that are carried with the permission of the department of building permits and town planning. This has been helping a sustainable development persist in this sector. The use of metal fences instead of their wooden counterparts has cut down the carbon dioxide emission by around 33,000 tonnes annually. The various grounds on which these temporary fencing should be laid follows the critical guideline. According to this, not more than 5cm gap should be there between the panels of the fence, the height of the fence should at least be 2.5 metres, the entrance width not more than 5 metres and that the structure should rise more than 20 cm above the ground. Caution and guideline notice should be displayed at equal intervals. A plaque bearing the name of the project and contractor should also be fixed. Along with this, the contractor takes full responsibility to maintain the utility lines that borders the temporary fencing in Abu Dhabi.
